INFORMATION ABOUT GERRY
I was born in Leavenworth KS. I was the first child. When I was just about 2 years old my dad got out of the ARMY and we moved to Perryville MO. About a year later my sister was born (she was the last sibling I guess my folks felt things were getting worse so they stopped with her. We remained in Perryville for 5 years before we moved to St. Louis MO.
I went to grade school at Salem grade in Affton MO. I went to high school at Bayless high school in St. Louis MO. I have to say I enjoyed my childhood and have no regrets.
After graduation from high school I was injured in a car accident and received a back injury and that kept me out of the Military (which I guess was a blessing because I didn't have to serve in Vietnam).
I really wanted to work in the automotive field but the back injurie ended that for a career choice. My mom suggested I look into a new field EDP (Electronic Data Processing), thank you Mom. I worked in what is now called IT for the next 49 years, doing everything from Operator, Operations Mgr., Programer to Program Mgr. then Director. I loved the field because it was and still is changing, always something new to learn. I still had the love of automobiles and played with and still play with them. My favorite has always been Hot Rods and Customs.
A couple of years later I got married, we lived in Mehlville MO for about 2 years and then moved to lake community near Ste. Genevieve MO, we had 3 wonderful children. We were divorced about 9 years later.
At the time of my divorce a friend Annie DeRouch arranged for me to meet a wonderful lady named Janet. After about a year, Janet and I got married in St. Joseph’s Church in Zell, MO. It should be noted that when I met Janet I was crazy about her. Since I had fallen away from God and her great faith got me me back to faith and the Catholic and the church. I was so blessed and a year later we were married.
Five years later we moved to Camarillo, CA.
We really enjoyed CA. and met a lot of fine people. We got to do a lot of traveling with the folks in a car group. We stayed in CA. for several more years and then got kind of home sick, plus both Janet’s mom and my mom were getting up in years so it was time to go home.
We have been back in St. Louis for over 20 years and have downsized our life and home. We have been involved with cars, camping, boats, motorcycles, and now a fun convertible. I have fully retired and we get to do a number of fun things; along with being involved in a prison ministry program.
Thanks to the age of computers we still get to be very involved with all of our children.
Our life has been and is still great thanks for the BLESSINGS we have received from God.
